My best friend and I are 23 year old guys. Is it ok to get him something personalized, maybe not jewelry but maybe like a key chain or something? What would be good or appropriate? We have been friends for 16 years but I don't want to come across as gay but would something personalized be ok? Not that I'm against gay but that's not the impression I want to give, so what could I give him that's personalized that doesn't come across as gay but 16 years of friendship. Thanks for any ideas or suggestions.

I got my brother a card and a gift certificate for his birthday and his wife just sent out a generic family email updating everyone of their life and then at the end mentioned that my brother thanks everyone for their cards and gifts. I think it's rude not to get a personalized response to say hey i liked what you sent. Is this proper etiquette?
